RAGAN INGRAM

ASSOCIATE

Ragan Ingram grew up in Montgomery at the feet one of Alabama’s political journalism legends, the late Bob Ingram. Bedtime stories growing up were about Folsom, Wallace, elections and legislative shenanigans. He followed in his father’s footsteps for a 14-year career at the Montgomery Advertiser – most of the time spent in his first love, which was sports writing.

In 1997, he left the newspaper world for public relations — specializing in the interplay between politics and media. A year later, Steve Windom asked him to come on board on his campaign team, ultimately serving as campaign manager. He served as communications director during Steve’s term as Lieutenant Governor. Following that, he was Assistant Commissioner and Chief of Staff at the Alabama Department of Insurance.

While at ALDOI, he helped guide the state’s insurance department’s responses to Hurricanes Ivan and Katrina, the rash of church arsons in 2006, as well as the tragic tornado event in April 2011. He rejoined Steve in January 2013 in a familiar role as sounding board and the official asker of “what if” questions as they war game for clients.

Ragan, a graduate of Auburn University Montgomery, is married to Karen McDaniel Ingram, a retired school psychologist. They have two children, Bo Ingram (a software engineer) and Ali Ingram King (a kindergarten teacher). The Ingrams have one granddaughter and one grandson.

He has served as Chairman of the Board of Saint James School, where he and his children graduated. He also was a high school football official for six years and a sports talk radio co-host for four years. Consequently, he considers himself well qualified to critique the officials at any ballgame he attends or watches on TV. He likes to tinker in the kitchen, and is a Monday morning quarterback for Auburn football.
